A view over Edgehill Battlefield

The Battle of Edgehill

Edge Hill gave its name to the first battle of the English Civil War, in which it was a prominent feature and was fought on Sunday, 23 October 1642. The battle was reportedly re-enacted in the sky over Edge Hill on Christmas Eve 1642 and periodically since then. Audible phenomena have also been reported at the site, and include hoofbeats and agonising screams.
